It is a nightmare, isn’t it? I totally understand this situation if this happened to you right now.
Don’t be panic! the good news is you will get your money back. The bad news is the process can take more than 4 weeks (over a month) to get your money back.
If you’ve tried to withdraw money from ATM in Thailand and unfortunately you didn’t get money, and the bank already deducted money from your bank account.
What you need to do?
- Notify your bank immediately, the ATM that you withdraw the money, time, and the exact amount (in your currency).
- After that, it might take up to 3 – 4 weeks to get the money back. This depends on how fast your bank can process. Our case with Australian bank took more than 4 weeks and we had to call them again and again to follow our case. But don’t worry, you will get your money back.
Note: Always withdraw money from a well-known bank in Thailand such as Green bank, Blue Bank, or Purple Bank (We had a problem with the purple one). Don’t use a generic bank ATM.
It’s saver and probably easier to use ATM at the branch or if you have a Visa or Master card, you can withdraw money from a teller (fee apply). Cannot use a Debit Card for this service.
I hope this help
