A Day in Auckland
We went into Auckland with no plan, just a freestyle day.
After breakfast, we wandered over to the Auckland Tower. Brad wasn’t too thrilled about it (you can really feel the sway of the tower when you’re up there!), but it was still an experience. From there, we strolled aimlessly through the city, looking for somewhere to have lunch.
We ended up at a little bar, The Queen’s Ferry, tucked away in a walking alley. I loved the vibe, cozy, relaxed, and perfect for people-watching. As usual, we ordered way too much food, and I couldn’t resist asking the bartender for their “prettiest” cocktail. (That’s my thing, I love a good-looking drink!)

While we were eating, we struck up a conversation with a gentleman at the next table. Thanks to him, we swapped my original plan of visiting the NZ Maritime Museum for the Auckland War Memorial Museum and I’m so glad we did.
I absolutely loved it. Honestly, the building alone is worth visiting, but inside it’s a treasure trove of history, culture, and storytelling. I didn’t have enough time to soak it all in, so I snapped photos of the exhibits and descriptions to read later. Charlie and Claire had a blast, especially with the volcano eruption simulation. It really is a heaven for both kids and adults.
